ReliefAid is honoured to announce that the Rt Hon Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and former Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has joined ReliefAid as our Patron.
Helen Clark is a respected global leader on sustainable development, gender equality, and international co-operation. She served three successive terms as Prime Minister of New Zealand between 1999 and 2008. While in government, she led policy debate on a wide range of economic, social, environmental and cultural issues, including sustainability and climate change.
From 2009 to 2017, she was the first woman to head the UNDP, serving two terms as Administrator and also chairing the United Nations Development Group. Today she continues to play an active role in international organisations and is Patron of The Helen Clark Foundation.
“I am impressed by ReliefAid’s work to bring practical support and hope to people in the most fragile and conflict-affected settings around the world. I salute the work of all its staff, especially those on the ground in often daunting and very dangerous circumstances” – Helen Clark.
“We are proud to have Helen Clark as our Patron,” said Mike Seawright, ReliefAid’s Founder. “Her commitment to humanitarian values and global leadership will be invaluable as we continue our work supporting families caught in the crossfires of conflict”.
Helen doesn’t just talk, she acts. Most recently on the Gaza border where she was calling for more international action for families in Gaza.
Listen here to Helen’s recent interview on RNZ’s Afternoons programme, where she discusses her findings at the border into Gaza after visiting the Rafah crossing, and the United Nations’ effectiveness in today’s world.
With Helen’s patronage, ReliefAid gains a powerful advocate whose leadership and global perspective will amplify our efforts to provide life-saving aid and support to families in crisis.
